In early June Finnish-Swiss artist duo Sasha Huber and Petri Saarikko, the current Te Whare Hēra artists in residence, set out to find participants to join their 2nd edition of their ”Remedies” project, initially started in Sweden during their 2010/2011 residency at Botkyrka Konsthall,

After weeks of workshops, discussions and practice sessions, the Healers project was performed and filmed. Following the video production (click here to view), the Rongoā Remedies publication detailing the project was also produced.

The project was realised with the collaboration of dancer and choreographer Tessa Hall and the multitalented musician and composer Michelle Scullion. The publication contains texts by Emma Ng, Arihia Latham, Cassandra Barnett, Lis Elisson-Löschmann and Petri Saarikko and the remedies have been contributed from the participants Arihia Latham, Christopher Ulutupu, Elisabeth Pointon, Jordana Bragg, Louise Rutledge, Mica Hubertus Mick, Rosie Evans, Scott Morrison and Tasha Maree Dangerfield Smith. The publication is enriched by portraits of all participants made by Tam Webster as part of his ongoing “Mr. Webster’s fabulous photo booth” project. Webster also filmed and edited the video in close collaboration with Huber and Saarikko.

The publication is published by Enjoy Public Art Gallery with support from the Te Whare Hēra Wellington International Artist Residency, and the College of Creative Arts Toi Ruawharangi, Massey University and Arts Promotion Centre Finland.

This publication has also been made available as an online PDF.
